Mitch Waterman vs. Shadow Alley

It was a return that no-one saw coming, as Mitch Waterman answered Jarvis’ open challenge at Night 1 of Anniversary and then backed up that win with another victory on Night 2, this time against Robbie Thorpe.

It was the first time we’d seen Mitch in MCW since Blood in the Water back in April last year – and he was as good as he’s ever been.

But during his absence, quite a few things have changed, such as the emergence of Shadow Alley – Mick Moretti’s new faction. Taking two rising stars and remodelling them in his own image, Moretti has been an unlikely teacher to Snap and Crackle.

And while no-one could deny the talent on display, Moretti’s teachings are putting Shadow Alley firmly on the wrong side of the rules.

So, what’s going to happen when Shadow Alley face their biggest test, when they have to face a former MCW World Heavyweight Champion in Mitch Waterman?

The conventional wisdom would suggest that it should be an easy night for Waterman, but there are some intangibles that are too big to ignore.

Firstly, Waterman doesn’t know which member of Shadow Alley he’s going to face. Will it be Snap or will it be Crackle? No matter how good you are, it’s hard to create a gameplan against an unknown opponent.

And secondly and more crucially, Shadow Alley have proven that they will do whatever it takes to win, and they clearly have a numbers advantage against Waterman. That’s hard for anyone to combat.

But there’s one more intangible – we’ve seen some tension between Moretti and his students in recent times. While they’re all still aligned right now, who knows what the future will bring should Moretti feel Snap and Crackle aren’t living up to his expectations?
