At Clash of the Titans, Anth Cava wanted to show Edward Dusk that actions have consequences, but no-one could have foreseen just how ruthless Dusk has become, not only attempting to permanently maim Cava’s powerful right hand, but following his win, he threw Interim General Manager Tony Villani out of the ring and through a table.
But once again we can’t help thinking that actions have consequences.
You see, Villani has had a silent helper standing behind him in recent months – a man with a reputation just as fearsome as Dusk’s.
For those of you who weren’t around during his heyday, let us introduce you to Gino Gambino.
A 2-time MCW World Heavyweight Champion, there used to be no dispute that Gino was the king.
To prove the point, he used to make his ring entrance by coming out on a throne. A true MCW OG, he can rightfully make a claim that he built the house that is MCW at the Thornbury Theatre.
The MCW faithful haven’t forgotten him, and even more tellingly, the MCW locker room haven’t forgotten him either. Because to be honest, he wasn’t just respected, he was feared.
Now he’s about to have his first singles MCW match at the Thornbury Theatre in almost 8 years; the last time he did so was his MCW World Heavyweight Championship loss to Slex, so you can be sure that he’s going to do everything he can to leave the MCW ring as a winner.
But if there’s one person who can spoil the return, it’s Edward Dusk, who’s seeming on another level right now. He’s made it clear that Dusk no longer plays by anyone else’s rules. He’s got a goal in mind, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get there.
The question lingers – was Dusk really following the straight and narrow path to become the MCW World Champion, or was he just stringing everyone along – the MCW locker room, MCW management, and most of all the MCW faithful?
In the end, it probably doesn’t matter – the Dusk we have in MCW right now is a wrecking ball of chaos, and everyone should be fearful – even former World Champions like Gambino.
In some ways, there’s a sense of poetry to it – Dusk can move one step closer to the championship by beating a former champ. We think that’s just the way Dusk likes it.
This won’t be beautiful. This won’t be a technical wrestling showcase. This will be war, and in war there can only be one victor.
Don’t miss MCW’s final event of the year on Saturday 7th November at the Thornbury Theatre.
