They went into Ballroom Brawl expecting to be the #1 Contenders, but following the unexpected events of that night, the team of Mitch Waterman and Ryan Rapid left the Melbourne Pavilion as the new MCW Tag Team Champions.
And it puts the team of Water Rapids into an interesting position; Waterman has been here plenty of times – this is his 5th time as an MCW Tag Team Champion.
He knows that as hard as it is to become a champion, staying a champion is even harder. More importantly, he knows that crushing feeling you get when you lose a championship, and that knowledge will drive him harder than ever to remain a winner.
Meanwhile, this is all new territory for Rapid. We’ve known that he’s had huge potential for quite a while now, and now he has gold in his hands, it’s clear that his potential has been realised. But how he has a new test – how will he cope when the entire locker room is gunning for you.
It’s why Water Rapids is such an intriguing team – a winning blend of experience and youth. And at Vendetta, they’ll be facing two teams, each of which demonstrates one of those facets.
When it comes to experience, the team in MCW that immediately comes to mind is The Natural Classics.
They’ve held the MCW Tag Team Championship multiple times, they’ve competed all over the world, and they have the in-ring skills and mindset to beat any team on their day.
However, they’re also a team seemingly at a crossroads – at Ballroom Brawl their close connection with the fans seemed a little strained. Was it just a blip, or are they about to change how they do things?
On the other hand, you have the team of Lucky O’Leary and Lucas Fantasia. They’re new. They have undeniable talent. They really don’t like each other. Thrown together after O’Leary beat Fantasia at High Stakes, and making Fantasia Lucky’s Personal Assistant in the process, this odd couple pairing could still ruin the night for Water Rapids.
In a triple threat match, chaos can often overcome order, and that could be where Lucky and Lucas could pounce.
