OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT OF GENERAL MANAGEMENT & INTERIM MCW GENERAL MANAGER
Following the conclusion of the MCW World Heavyweight Championship match between reigning Champion Robbie Thorpe and Challenger Matt Hayter at Ballroom Brawl, Senior Official Edwin determined that the match was ruled a No Contest due to the circumstances surrounding its conclusion.
As a result of this ruling, the match does not constitute a completed championship defence under MCW’s current “One and Done” Championship Rule, which stipulates that unsuccessful challengers to the Heavyweight Championship are ineligible for an immediate rematch within a 12 month period.
After reviewing Senior Official Edwin’s decision and considering a formal request submitted by Matt Hayter, I have determined that the request is both reasonable and warranted.
Therefore, I am officially sanctioning a rematch for the MCW World Heavyweight Championship.
Robbie Thorpe will defend the MCW World Heavyweight Championship against Matt Hayter at Clash of the Titans on Saturday 29th August at the Thornbury Theatre.
MCW remains committed to ensuring every championship is decided conclusively inside the ring.
At Clash of the Titans, both competitors will have the opportunity to settle this rivalry once and for all.
