It was a hell of a battle at Anniversary for the World Heavyweight Championship; one that showed the world that a new era is upon MCW, but in the end it was Robbie Thorpe who emerged victorious over Jarvis, and his loss meant that Jarvis can’t challenge Thorpe for the World Championship for one full year.
But that doesn’t mean he can’t continue to get his hands on him!
Immediately following the match, Adam Brooks came out to lay a challenge down to Robbie and MCW General Manager Rocky Menero – the two ICON$ vs Brooks and Jarvis, in a match with some real stakes. If the ICON$ lose, Rocky loses his position as MCW General Manager.
But never let it be said that Rocky doesn’t have some tricks up his sleeve, as he immediately offered up stakes of his own – if Brooks and Jarvis lose, one of them will be fired from MCW – and the fans will decide who that is!
But that’s not all, as Rocky had an even bigger surprise up his sleeve – it won’t be Robbie and Rocky at New Horizons – it’s going to be Robbie and a man who hasn’t been seen in MCW for over 7 years, a former MCW World Heavyweight Champion, Ballroom Brawl winner and a former NXT Tag Team Champion – Duke Hanson!
Which makes this an incredibly hard match to predict; individually we know what Adam Brooks and Jarvis can do, but how can they perform as a team, especially when they have the weight of one of them getting fired if they lose hanging over them.
It’s a new kind of pressure, that neither of them will have encountered before.
But the team of Robbie Thorpe and Duke Hudson is even more of an unknown quantity; Robbie isn’t someone who likes to the share the spotlight, especially now he’s the undisputed top dog in MCW. Plus he has the weight of Rocky Menero’s future resting on his shoulders.
Meanwhile Duke may have faced up against some huge names – The Street Profits, Keith Lee, Ricochet, Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, Gunther, Oba Femi and even fellow former MCW World Heavyweight Champion Bronson Reed, but there’s nothing like returning home after an extended time away, and even someone as confident as Hanson may be feeling nervous about stepping back into an MCW ring.
In theory, this is a classic tag match that’s a battle between size and power vs speed and aerial ability, but the stakes turn this into so much more.
No matter who wins, the consequences are going to have huge ramifications for MCW in 2026.
