We’ve seen some pretty reprehensible behaviour over the years as wrestlers try to do whatever they can to win, but at Anniversary, the Clydesdale may have pushed things to a whole new level.
It’s one thing to mess with a man, but it’s a whole other thing when The Clydesdale planted a big old pash on Anth Cava’s mum in the front row.
If it wasn’t personal before, you can be damn sure it is now.
But as we saw at Anniversary, The ‘Dale’s tactics happened to work, as he and The Physicals got the win over Cava, Lucas Fantasia and Jesse Lambert, which makes us wonder, when Cava and The ‘Dale meet one on one at New Horizons, will The ‘Dale sink even lower in his quest to defeat Cava? And if he can, what could that possibly entail?
And here’s the thing that we can’t understand – he’s got the talent to match up against anyone. He’s clearly got a ton of strength, he’s wrestled internationally, and he’s got charisma by the bucket load, so why does The Clydesdale feel compelled to take every short cut he can?
Yes, there’s some history between them – together they came close to winning the MCW Tag Team Championship, but even that loss doesn’t justify the lengths The ‘Dale has gone to.
So now he has to face a different Anth Cava – one who is hell bent on revenge.
On a regular day, Cava is a damn tough competitor – he’s a multi-sport athlete, he’s got years of experience, and he’s got the kind of skills that have seen many experts tip him as someone who could reach the very top of the Australian wrestling landscape.
But at New Horizons, he’s going to be someone who has one very simple goal – the complete destruction of The Clydesdale.
We don’t know that it’s going to be pretty, but we do think it’s going to be an absolute war between two of the best wrestlers in the country right now.
But that’s what happens when you make things personal.
