Betrayal – 1: the act of exposing or delivering someone to an enemy through treachery or disloyalty; 2: the act of disappointing a person’s trust, hopes, or expectations.
Anniversary was a momentous event, but that was especially the case for Erika Reid.
Sadly, the night could only be described as heartbreaking for her, as she lost her MCW Women’s Championship to Shay Kassidy, thanks largely to the third person in that match – Caity Luxe.
The Hellraiser has been an absolute chaos agent since she arrived in MCW, and her eyes have been solely on one target – Erika Reid. Devious, ruthless and cunning – Caity is a dangerous competitor at the best of times, but when she has destruction as a goal, that danger is only multiplied, as her actions at Anniversary proved.
But Erika might have been able to handle the loss of her championship, and even the ongoing threat of Caity, if it wasn’t for the subsequent actions of MCW General Manager Rocky Menero.
Following the match at Anniversary, Caity looked to put a further hurting on Erika after she grabbed a steel chair, until Rocky ran out to the ring. But the man Erika thought of as a father figure in MCW wasn’t there to stop the attack, he was there to endorse it.
Rocky may have stabbed Erika in the back, much to disgust of the MCW faithful in attendance, but it was a betrayal she felt in her heart.
Now at New Horizons, Erika must regroup as she faces her hated rival Caity in a Last Woman Standing match; a match that cannot be won via pinfall or submission.
The only way to win is to incapacitate your opponent to the point where they cannot respond to a 10-count from the referee.
However, the big question might be how will Erika rebound for this match? She’s someone who makes no apologies for wearing her heart on her sleeve, will this match awaken a new fire in that heart?
This could be the night where Erika really will need to draw strength from the love of the MCW faithful in attendance at the Thornbury Theatre.
