It was supposed to be her big day, but it ended in heartbreak.
At Anniversary, Shay Kassidy shocked the wrestling world by winning the MCW Women’s Championship.
It was a statement win that not only won her a well-deserved championship but was the culmination of years of struggle to reach that goal.
So, at New Horizons, Shay was going to have a Shaylebration to mark her historic win. However, someone had other ideas.
Enter Aysha, not only has she got history with Shay Kassidy, but she’s also had a long and frustrating past with the MCW Women’s Championship. She’s come very close to winning the belt on numerous occasions yet has never managed to get the win when it matters the most.
And most recently at Vendetta last year, it was Shay Kassidy vs Aysha to determine the #1 Contender for the championship. Shay got the win – the key in her march to the title – while Aysha was seemingly forgotten about.
We can imagine how that must play on her mind, as even though she knows she’s good enough, doubts must surely creep in, and maybe even push over the edge – leading to her actions at New Horizons.
But after her brutal attack on Shay – smashing a champagne bottle over her head – no-one can possibly forget Aysha now or underestimate her desire to win.
For Shay, High Stakes won’t be about cementing herself as the best women’s wrestler in the country, this is going to be all about revenge. It’s not something we’ve seen from the bubbly Kassidy, and this could show a dangerous new side to her game.
For Aysha, she’s succeeded in making this personal, and that might be her plan all along – if Shay is running on pure emotion, a more clinical approach from Aysha could be the difference maker.
