One of the more surprising rivalries of 2026 has been the ongoing battle between Edward Dusk and Matt Hayter. The normally stoic and brooding Dusk has been showing frustrations with Hayter, and it’s not hard to see why.
Back at Anniversary in February, Dusk thought he had put Hayter past him – they had a one-off match, Dusk won, and he would continue to get closer to the MCW World Championship that has eluded him up until now.
However, Hayter had other ideas. At New Horizons, Dusk was well in control during his match with Lucky O’Leary, until Hayter appeared on the big screen to distract Dusk, and O’Leary quickly capitalised to steal a shock win.
At Sunday Showcase, it was Dusk’s turn to surprise Hayter, with a sneak post-match on Hayter – an attack that wasn’t just out of character for Dusk these days, but also showed the depth of his feelings.
So, at High Stakes, it’s Dusk vs Hayter 2, and just maybe we’ll see a definitive end to this feud.
But there are two unknown factors that could drastically change things – firstly, the MCW faithful has been showing an increasing amount of support for Hayter, something that we’re a little surprised about, and Dusk even more so.
Will that continue into this match? We can only wait and see.
And secondly, as this is at High Stakes, before the match The Big Wheel will spin, and it could introduce a stipulation that will change everything.
For two men as unpredictable as Hayter and Dusk, it only seems fitting to introduce a bit of unknown chaos.
One thing we do know – both men will be going all out to win this!
High Stakes is live from the Thornbury Theatre on Saturday 23rd May.
