Fight to Survive – MCW Women’s Championship

Preview by Dan Steadman

In hindsight, we should have all seen the betrayal coming.

After defeating Kingsley to retain her MCW Women’s Championship at Vendetta, Erika Reid then set her sights on taking the OPW Women’s Tag Team Championship from Kingsley and her Backslide Girlz partner Shay Kassidy at Worlds Collide.

The only issue was that she needed a partner of her own. Enter Eugenie. The Golden Bati has quickly developed a strong reputation of her own coming out of Queensland, and this was a perfect opportunity to extend that reputation further down south.

But here’s the thing, we thought (and Erika too) that a win and a Tag Team Championship reign would be enough to boost that reputation. But Eugenie was thinking bigger.

At Worlds Collide she literally turned her back on Erika, leading to the Backslide Girlz retaining their championship, and putting Eugenie on a collision course with Erika for an even bigger prize – the MCW Women’s Championship.

At Fight to Survive, this will be a match that has suddenly turned very personal, and while we’re sure that Eugenie is feeling pleased with herself for getting into Erika’s head, she also better be careful what she wished for – we’ve seen what Erika can do when her back is against the wall before.

One way or another, this is a sudden rivalry that we expect to be as heated as any we’ve seen, and it’s going to a battle we can’t wait to witness.

Fight to Survive 2024 is live from the Thornbury Theatre on Saturday 19th October.
