For the last few months, Adam Brooks has been focused on defending his Intercommonwealth Championship against the best young talent in the country.
But that means that quite a few more experienced men have been pushed aside as Brooksy tests the youth movement.
Now, one of the most skilled and battle-proven wrestlers Australia has to offer, and a former MCW champion too, returns to the country and his first point of order is to put Brooks to the ultimate trial.
You see, for the last couple of months, Ricky South has been plying his trade in Canada, where he’s been facing some of the best young talent in the country, but now he’s coming for not just a chance to win another championship in MCW, but perhaps more importantly, settle some unfinished business.
To understand what that business could be, we have to go back a few years to December 2021, where in the main event of MCW x PWA Worlds Collide, South defeated Brooks to clinch the best of 5 match series in favour of PWA over MCW.
Fast forward a month later to January 2022, the rematch in PWA saw Brooks beat South to even up the ledger. And since that time, that’s where things have stood – neither man able to definitively say that they’re the better man. Until now.
But since they last faced each other, both have only built their resumes – Brooks not only claimed the Intercommonwealth title, but also had a reign as the OPW Heavyweight Champion, and also held the MCW Tag Team Championship, while South famously held the MCW World Championship, and also had a long reign as PWA Heavyweight Champion.
Quite clearly, both men are at their absolute peak, which is why now is the perfect time to deliver the rematch that everyone’s been so eager to see.
With the Intercommonwealth Championship as an additional incentive, you can be damn sure that both Adam Brooks and Ricky South are going to be extra motivated to walk out of the Melbourne Pavilion as the victor, and finally after so many years, know they are truly the better man.
Two of Australia’s very best against each other, with both gold and reputation on the line – what more could anyone ask for?
