Following Caveman Ugg’s shock announcement that he had to give up the World Heavyweight Championship due to injury, there is an empty space at the top of the MCW tree right now. And as the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, nature abhors a vacuum.
So, at End Game, we’re putting things right, and there will be a World Champion once more. Four men, each with a unique reason on why they could walk out of the Melbourne Pavilion as the champion.
You may not like the guy, but it’s hard to argue against the idea that 2025 has been Robbie Thorpe’s year.
The big Englishman has done everything he said he’d do – win the Ballroom Brawl, win the Fight to Survive match, and become the ICON$ most valuable asset. And let’s be honest, he has the skills to win this match. If he ends up as champion, not only will it prove beyond all doubt that this is his year, but it could be one of the most dominant years ever seen in MCW.
But perhaps Thorpe’s biggest challenge is the man who said that he would be champion – Edward Dusk.
He’s had his own challenges this year in the form of the ICON$, and specifically Rocky Menero, but he’s overcome that and has now firmly set his sights on his ultimate goal.
And look, there are few wrestlers in the entire country who has the ring intelligence of Dusk – no matter the situation, he can find a way to win. End Game could be the coronation that he’s been building towards, and one that he truly deserves.
One man who knows what it takes to climb to the very top is Slex.
He’s held the top title no less than 3 times, making him the record holder in terms of reigns, and following his betrayal at the hands of the ICON$, he’s going to come into End Game with a massive chip on his shoulder.
Hell, Slex on a normal day is an incredibly tough opponent; throw in a killer attitude, and he’s going to be hard to bet against. Plus a win here could cement his status as the very best in Australia – not just now, but ever.
Finally, there’s a true wildcard in the mix – Adelaide’s Matt Hayter. The mainstay of Riot City Wrestling made his shock return to MCW at Fight to Survive, where he won the 6-Man Scramble Match.
But anyone who has been following the entire spectrum of Australian pro-wrestling knows that he’s got true championship pedigree, he’s won titles across the country, and with well over a decade of experience, there’s no situation he hasn’t been in before.
Don’t sleep on Hayter – he’s a man who will use every trick in the book to get what he wants, especially if what he wants is to take Melbourne’s biggest championship all the way back to Adelaide.
Four men, one championship. The stage is set for a truly epic encounter.
