How can we explain the relationship between Anth Cava and The Clydesdale?
Friends? Enemies? Frenemies?
To really understand the relationship, we have to look at their history.
Let’s go back a year, to 2024’s End Game event – both The ‘Dale and Cava were in the Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contender to the Intercommonwealth Championship. And they both did well – they were both in the final four, until Cava eliminated Clydesdale. Was that the seed that started a rivalry?
If it was, High Stakes made things even more complex. When the team of Carlo Cannon and Zhan Wen couldn’t compete in the Tag Team Championship Tournament, then why did Clydesdale rig the draw to become Anth’s impromptu partner? And look, they were successful, defeating The Physicals at High Stakes, and coming very close to becoming Tag Champs at Ballroom Brawl before falling to Mitch Waterman and Ryan Rapid.
And at Vendetta, when The Clydesdale served as the Special Guest Referee in the Intercommonwealth Championship between Adam Brooks and The Tuckman, it was Anth Cava who joined the commentary desk, where he made his feelings about The Clydesdale pretty clear.
So look, there are some deep feelings and a long history between them. And that only escalated when The Clydesdale reached a new low by trying to get Cava suspended for a wellness policy violation. He almost got away with it too, until the footage of him replacing Cava’s test sample came out.
Which is why we finally have a one-on-one match between them locked in for End Game, and you can be sure that after what The Clydesdale did, Cava is going to be out for revenge.
The funny thing is though, they are more similar than different – neither has a self-confidence problem, both have great physiques, both are power wrestlers, and both have the skills to beat anyone on their day.
Perhaps more importantly, both are poised to be the next big thing in Australian pro-wrestling, and a win over the other could catapult either of them into the main event picture.
Maybe it’s a case of while each wants to get the win for personal reasons, perhaps the victor will be the man who looks at this opportunity for what it can do for their career. When feelings are running this hot, that’s not an easy thing to do.
