We were wondering if the hatred between Erika Reid and Caity Luxe could reach any greater heights; after all the end of New Horizons saw them both unconscious on the ground after falling off the Thornbury Theatre balcony, going through a couple of tables in the process.
And then at High Stakes, the Big Wheel spun up something truly shocking.
Thanks to that fateful spin, at Ballroom Brawl Erika and Caity will enter The Sacrament, and neither woman may be the same afterwards.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen The Sacrament in MCW – for 10 minutes, all rules are null and void and both competitors can do whatever it takes to win; after that time, it becomes a standard match, although the effects of the previous 10 minutes remain.
There’s a reason why it’s an unsanctioned match, and there’s a reason why it holds such a reputation within the MCW locker room.
In a match where men like Edward Dusk (his hallmark match), Adam Brooks, Ricky South and Rocky Menero have competed, and faced their fears in the process, this marks the first time two women will compete in the match – and don’t think for a second that they’ll treat it any differently from the previous competitors.
But it’s interesting to see the reactions of both Erika and Caity when the match was announced. The woman who has been the aggressor – Caity – seemed fearful for the first time, whereas the Erika seemed to relish the chance to finally even the odds, and have the rulebook temporarily thrown out in the process.
Perhaps Caity has bitten off more than she can chew this time, or maybe Erika isn’t aware of the depths Caity will sink to in order to win.
Either way, this is going to be something special, and we’re both nervous and excited to witness it.
