We’ve pointed out more than a few times that during this current reign as Intercommonwealth Champion, Adam Brooks has been taking on the best young talent MCW has to offer. And it’s proven two things – there’s a ton of great new talent in MCW, and Adam Brooks continues to be the yardstick by which all of Australian wrestling is measured by.
But there’s one young, red hot talent that Brooksy hasn’t faced yet, and it’s a man that no-one should bet against.
The rise of The Clydesdale has been fast, and it’s also been fascinating to see, as there could be a pattern emerging.
He formed a short-lived team with Anth Cava, almost winning the MCW Tag Team Championship in the process, but when they fell short, the resulting feud quickly turned personal. Then he teamed with The Physicals, but again that partnership ended in animosity.
Now The Clydesdale has joined forces with Lucky O’Leary, and while we’re understandably wary of solidarity of these two, it does seem like a good fit – neither are lacking in self-confidence, both have clear talent in the ring, and both don’t mind breaking a few rules to get ahead.
But perhaps most critically, Lucky O’Leary has been in the exact same position as The Clydesdale is about to be – facing Adam Brooks for the Intercommonwealth Championship. And while Lucky didn’t quite get the win, he knows what it’s like to face Brooksy one-on-one – that could be game-changing intel.
Plus, Lucky will be in The ‘Dale’s corner, and that could change things even further.
Brooksy has faced seemly insurmountable odds before, and still managed to come up a winner – there’s no reason to think he couldn’t do it again. You don’t have the career Brooks has had without knowing how to win. Plus his recent overseas ventures have only made him a more dangerous wrestler.
Yet, we still can’t shake the feeling that The Clydesdale has something up his sleeve for this match.
No matter, at the Melbourne Pavilion it’s going to be one of Australia’s very best defending against one of Australia’s brightest new stars.
