Anniversary – World Heavyweight Championship

By Dan Steadman

So, what actually happened to the MCW World Heavyweight Championship at End Game?

No sooner had Caveman Ugg finally got his hands on the ultimate prize after defeating Slex, but Ricky South suddenly cashed in his Ballroom Brawl opportunity and scored a shocking win to claim the championship.

The outsider has his hands on MCW’s premier title, and within both the MCW locker room and among the MCW faithful – everyone was stunned.

But that was in December. A couple of months on, and shock has turned to determination for two men who have unfinished business with South.

Firstly, you have the former champion, Caveman Ugg. He was blindsided by not just South, but also Slex, in his championship loss at End Game, and he’s pretty damn angry about it.

He had finally captured the one MCW Championship that had eluded him, and now he’s hell bent on revenge to get it back.

We’ve seen what Ugg can do in a normal match, but is Ricky South truly ready for a Caveman fuelled by rage?

Edward Dusk defeated Ricky South in The Sacrament, showing the MCW faithful that while he’s friendlier to the fans these days, he’s still as ruthless as ever when it comes to chasing a win.

And remember that for as good a year as Dusk had in 2024, he didn’t do the one thing he said he would – win the MCW World Heavyweight Championship.

It’s a new year, and if Dusk has his way, it’s going to start with a new champ.

Finally, there’s the champion.

Ricky South is still somewhat of an unknown quantity to some MCW fans, having only made his return at Ballroom Brawl last year. But while in years past he was flamboyant in his approach, now ‘The Example’ is about just one thing – unbridled violence.

He was always a force of nature, but now he’s got a focus that must be simply terrifying for anyone he shares the ring with. Yes, he might be outnumbered in this match, but he might not be outgunned.
Ricky South vs Caveman Ugg vs Edward Dusk. A champion.

A former champion. A champion in waiting.

This is going to be something special.

MCW Anniversary 2025 is live from the Thornbury Theatre on Saturday 15th March.
