The list of teams that have held the MCW Tag Team Championship is long and illustrious.
Teams like TMDK, The Prehistoric Death Cult, The Brat Pack, Big Business, The ICON$ and the current holders – The Parea.
Now it’s time to find The Parea’s next challenger, and what better way than with the best teams in the country fighting it out for the opportunity?
For the first match in the tournament, we have a team that has done it all facing a new team built on mutual respect.
As two-time holders of the MCW Tag Team Championship, The Natural Classics know better than anyone what it takes to not just become champions, but how to stay at the top too.
Stevie and Tome Filip are not just among the absolute best in the country, but they’ve just returned from their first tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where they faced the best Japan has to offer.
What’s going to be interesting is for the MCW faithful (and the MCW locker room) to see how that experience has changed the Classic’s game – we know they’ve only gotten better after their NJPW tour.
But they’ll be facing an unknown – a team that after doing battle in the ring against each other across a number of months, have joined forces due to the respect each has for the other.
Mitch Waterman is no stranger to tag team gold – as part of The Brat Pack, he held the MCW Tag Team Championship no less than four times – a company record.
Ryan Rapid has been on a tear the last few months, and following his battle royal win at End Game, he’s already the holder of the #1 Contender slot for the Intercommonwealth Championship – could he become a double #1 Contender after this tournament?
The team of Rapid and Waterman is an intriguing one – a blend of youth and experience, yet untested in the ring.
One thing’s for sure, if this is the first match this tournament has in store for us, we can’t wait to see the other side of the bracket!
