They’ve been at the very top of MCW in recent months, but it’s been increasingly clear that not all is well within the ICON$. And after the events of End Game, that’s clearer than ever.
It seems that the man with the most discontent is Adam Brooks, which for long time MCW fans might seem a little out of character. After all, Brooksy puts forward an attitude of being laid back, but let’s be real – you don’t win multiple championships like Brooks has without caring deeply about the sport of wrestling, and more importantly, being the best at it.
So, when he, along with MCW General Manager Rocky Menero, lost the MCW Tag Team Championship to The Parea at End Game, it’s not surprising that his first order of business was to request a championship match.
And there’s one man that seems to be the source of most of Brooks’ frustrations – MCW Intercommonwealth Champion, and fellow member of the ICON$, Robbie Thorpe.
Since Thorpe became part of the group, there’s been clear friction between himself and Brooks, which has become more intense following Thorpe’s attempts to interfere in Brooks’ match. Thorpe thinks he’s helping to ensure the ICON$ pick up the win; Brooks thinks he’s overstepping his bounds.
Which puts Rocky Menero in a very awkward position – as both the self-proclaimed leader of the ICON$, and the current MCW General Manager – he’s got a real job ahead of him to keep everyone happy while not taking sides.
But in this particular case, he’s chosen a clear solution – and seemingly a side, for now at least – give the veteran Brooks what he wants and let him take out his frustrations with Thorpe in the ring, and for Thorpe’s Intercommonwealth Championship.
Brooks has experience and a long history of championship success on his side, while Thorpe has size, youth and hunger on his. Not an easy one to predict at all.
It’s a match that’s never been seen before, and it’s a match that we didn’t think we’d get to see. On the line – not just a championship, but a battle for supremacy within the ICON$.
This is a match that could have ramifications for months to come.
MCW Anniversary 2025 is live from the Thornbury Theatre on Saturday 15th March.
