The match for the MCW Women’s Championship that everyone has been waiting for is finally here, but while the MCW faithful may be anticipating the showdown, that’s nothing compared to the three women competing in it. And all three have very different reasons why it means so much to them.
There hasn’t been a woman as ruthless as Caity Luxe seen in MCW for quite some time.
And she has certainly made an impact since her unexpected return, with attacks and interference being the norm – firstly at Fight to Survive, where her actions forced the referee to make the match between Erika Reid and Shay Kassidy a no-contest; then Caity attacked Erika at the gym, ruling her out of competing at End Game; and finally a post-match attack on Shay Kassidy proved that her quest to reach the top of the mountain in MCW is far from over. And while you may not like her tactics, the desire is clear to see.
Shay Kassidy’s win over Caity at End Game proved that her pop-culture edge doesn’t make her any less dangerous. And her quest to become the champ has been a true journey – one that has seen the MCW faithful grow to enjoy.
Between her gutsy efforts in the ring, and her sheer charisma outside of it, those boos have largely turned to cheers these days. But even more importantly, she’s gained the respect of not just the MCW faithful, but the entire MCW locker room.
2025 was a huge year for Shay, and she could start 2026 in an even bigger way.
Meanwhile for the champ, the attack on Erika Reid from Caity while she was at the gym might have been a blessing in disguise.
She might not have been cleared for active competition, but she was cleared to still train, and that freed her up to attend the Lodestone training camp in Florida put on by WWE’s Bayley.
There she learnt from the absolute best in the business – Rhea Ripley, Natalya, Bianca Belair, Roxanne Perez, Charlotte Flair, Maxxine Dupri, Ivy Nile, Lyra Valkyria, TJ Wilson, even John Cena.
With that new knowledge in her arsenal, Erika returns to Melbourne as a more complete and certainly more dangerous wrestler.
With the support of the crowd behind her, it would be a brave person to bet against Erika. Especially as she’ll be gunning for Caity with a vengeance.
Three women. One title. History will be made and destiny will be fulfilled at Anniversary!
